Head-on collisions are one of the most dangerous types of car accidents. They are particularly dangerous because the force of such an accident is high. While many factors may contribute to the occurrence of head-on collisions, certain driver behaviors increase the likelihood of an accident. These include:
- Not staying in your lane
- Swerving or over correcting, and driving into oncoming traffi
- Driving the wrong directio
- Failing to allow enough time to safety pass a car in your lane
- Not yielding at an intersection.
Other times, factors outside a driver's control are to blame such as roadway design or unforeseen obstacles.
Further, the nature and extent of your injuries will depend on a variety of factors, including the speed of the vehicles involved, whether airbags were deployed, whether you were wearing a seatbelt, the type of car involved (i.e. compact car vs. an SUV), and where you were sitting in the car.
