A 26-year-old woman was killed while she was setting up a tent for her employer at the Kapiolani Community College Farmers Market. According to Hawaii News Now, a delivery truck ran into the area where vendors were setting up tents and booths for the weekly Farmer's Market. The truck struck Annie Runland, an employee at Greens & Vines Raw Vegan Restaurant and student at the University of Hawaii. Two other people sustained serious personal injuries.
An investigation into the truck crash continues, however Honolulu police commented, "At this point we're not looking at speed or alcohol, but either driver or mechanical error on the part of the vehicle."
If you or a loved one has been injured, or if you have lost a loved one due to the negligent or reckless conduct of another, it is important to consult with an experienced Hawaii personal injury attorney right away.
A compassionate and knowledgeable Hawaii negligence lawyer can begin an investigation into all of the actions that may have contributed to a serious injury accident.
For example, where a mechanical error may have caused or contributed to an incident, it may be possible to file a product liability claim. Product liability lawsuits may be filed where a faulty or defective auto or truck part causes or contributes to a personal injury accident. Examples include faulty brakes, defective tires and/or other defects that cause a vehicle not to perform as it should.
While filing a wrongful death or personal injury lawsuit may be difficult to consider after a death occurs, such claims may bring closure to grieving families and prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
